Cargreen Yacht Club
|
The Cargreen Yacht Club is situated on the West bank of
the Tamar at Coombe Creek, Cargreen, three miles upstream from the Tamar Bridges.
This aerial photo looking North shows Cargreen village on the
promontory sticking out into the Tamar. The inlet just above the village is Coombe
Creek. The clubhouse and dinghy park are situated between Coombe and the village.
The moorings on this stretch of the river are managed by the Club - for enquiries
about availability contact the mooring officer.

The clubhouse built in 1993 with the help of a lottery grant stands on an elevated
site overlooking the river. It provides the usual changing, meeting, lounging, galley
and bar facilities. As well as moorings for the bigger boats the club has active
dinghy and cadet sections . Mixed fleet handicap racing takes place throughout the
summer when the tides are right. In 2002 we ran a very popular and successful Frostbite
series through the autumn which saw some of the best sailing of the year. All dinghies
are welcome - everything from HobieCat to Mirror takes part. In 2002 Lasers were
the most popular class |
There is a thriving cadet section and the club has its own fleet of six Picos together
with various other member's boats used for cadet activities. Cadets meet on Fridays
throughout the season, and we also run a popular early season training camp at Roadford
and a week-long Sailing course for cadets in the summer holidays.
