Welcome to Cargreen Yacht Club

We are one of the friendliest sailing clubs on the River Tamar on the Cornwall side, with thriving cadet and dinghy sections with deepwater swinging moorings and some shallow mooring which are available just two miles upstream from the Tamar bridges and five miles from Plymouth.

Message from our Commodore

In taking over the helm of ‘the best little yacht club on the Tamar’, I’d like to pay tribute to my distinguished predecessor, Tony Head, who achieved so much during his term as Commodore, and to the retiring members of the committee who ably supported him.

The helmsman of most yachts is not usually the man in charge and he is certainly not the man who does all the work. His job is to look ahead and keep the boat on course. The nitty-gritty is done by the watch leaders, our committee officers, who are at the heart of business.

Priority issues for us this year are: the future of dinghy racing, cadet training, maximising moorings revenue by increasing occupancy, an innovative and exciting social programme and boring but important clubhouse and ground maintenance.

Mooring and membership fees are the lifeblood of the club. The former are coming in reasonably well. Membership fees are due shortly. Please, this year, can you settle on time and with the right amount – check your standing orders!

Finally may I wish you a successful fit-out and a season of fair winds and fine weather.

 CYC is proud of its Cadets and the training with a fleet of dinghies. It's great fun and there is usually a waiting list.

 Cargreen YC is a gateway to the best cruising grounds in England, turn left at Plymouth for Dartmouth and the Jurassic Coast, turn right for Fowey and the Cornish coast.
